Chevee Builds: Legend of Zelda Pixel Art (Hylian Shield)

Chevee Builds: Legend of Zelda Pixel Art (Hylian Shield) – YouTube
When filming videos for the gaming channel, there was always this big blank wall behind me with a grey box… my electrical panel. I kept thinking about ways of covering that up, so here it is!

This is the Hylian Shield from the Legend of Zelda series. This artwork never appeared in any Zelda game… I found it through a google search… but I thought it was fitting and recognizable enough.

I used 1/4″ pre-sanded plywood for the art itself. I ripped in 2″ pixels with my circular saw set to cut 1/8″ deep. I sealed the wood with a few coats of shellac to keep it from absorbing too much of the paint. The design was painted with water-based acrylic craft paint and sealed with a few coats of lacquer. The inner frame is pine and the outer frame is poplar.

The piece ways about 12 lbs and is hung via a french-cleat for easy access to the electrical panel.

Thanks for checking out the project!
