Assisted Suicide | Opinion Week

Assisted Suicide | Opinion Week

The Daily Shed #94 – This week, I’m tackling 5 controversial subjects and giving you my opinions on them. Some of these opinions will not be popular. I’m fine with that. I’m not here to be write or wrong, I just want to start a discussion.

Having suffered from depression nearly all of my memorable life, I understand the deep desire to cease existing. It’s a maddening feeling and overwhelmingly present. When you are in that frame of mind, and you are willing to act on it, nothing is going to stop you. I’m a compassionate person, and I completely understand the feeling of not wanting to be a burden on society.

That is the crux of medically assisted suicide. For a person that doesn’t want to be a burden on the world anymore, the option of being allowed to end your life with dignity is extremely appealing. Also, it’s another barrier to them actually performing the act. We step in, say “are you sure” and suddenly there is compassion in their world. We might be surprised at how many people we save by allowing them this decision.

Hello friends! Welcome to my shed. The Daily Shed is a daily (Mon-Fri) talk show that I produce in my shed. Each day, I pick a topic to discuss, and spend about 10 minutes on the subject. Then we talk about it in the comments! Thanks for checking out the show! – Chevee
